Does this sound like herpes?????

Ok so I was having unprotected vaginal & oral sex with a male (I'm a female) for a couple of months and at one point I started having what I now think was a herpes outbreak. I shaved my vagina and usually I'm in a rush to do it so I have irritation down there for a short amount of time. But this time it was itching like CRAZY like keeping me up at night, it was burning and I had to take wash cloths to give it a cold compress. I had a few blisters around my groin area and they were itchy and I kept scratching vigourously and I spread it to my arm & face. On my arm it was clusters of red, itchy, fluid filled looking bumps. I went to the doctor and he said it was probably poison ivy, gave me cream and it went away once I stopped scratching. But I had never tested for herpes cause I never knew it wasn't included in the routine check. I went for my routine check a few weeks ago and had chlamydia (I had a new sex partner). Now I'm thinking since I contracted something, could that have been a herpes outbreak? Sometimes I have shooting pains in my vagina, and mild tingling. I will get tested (igG blood test is the best right?) but I need an idea. Thanks again! smile

Yes it does sound like herpes, when they appear again go straight to a walkin clinic to be tested only you can't be tested without visual tests really.

A blood test can be done to look for antibodies but its not as accurate as being seen by a professional doctor at a STD Clinic when you have a outbreak. They will take a swab from one of your blisters and then it will take a week or 2 to be confirmed neg or positive HPV1 or HPV2

    Good luck

Thanks! I was gonna do it once I had another outbreak but I haven't had one since and it's been about 5 months. How long do you think I should wait for one? Thanks again!

You will have to wait till you have a outbreak but you may not ever have another one some people dont but they are carriers. You could have a blood test but im not that sure about that enquire at the doctors or clinic.

Well I never heeds of having poison ivy down below ..

But I never had issues with it spreading on my body parts either and I use to scratch like a LOT .

Did you have any discharge ? Burning when you pee ? Hurt virgiroisly when you sat down... walked? Was your skin peeling or anything such ?

I'm thinking it might have spread because I had long nails maybe. My skin peeled on my arm some, it didn't hurt to sit down/walked and it's a good chance it burned when I peed, can't remember necessarily but I think so it burned a lot. Thanks for your comment!

Yes, def get tested with the blood test. A culture test for herpes will only be good if you have an active outbreak. Once an outbreak heals, it will dry up, and a culture will come back with a negative result. Go to the docs and get the igg test and get every other test you possibly can. do not itch! Do not touch the sores you can spread it and make it worse
