Does UC go into remission?

4-5 months ago my consultant diagnosed UC. I had prednisolone which was then replaced by Mesaline (Mezevant) - he doubled the dose of this because I was still visiting the loo too much and had 'profound fatigue'. He then did blood tests twice which showed that I still had inflammation. So he then did another colonoscopy today. I was pretty drowsy when he came to see me afterwards and I am hoping that somebody out there can answer the questions I should have asked!
He said that he was delighted that there was no colitis showing - does this mean it has gone altogether or is in remission?
He said that he would think about it, but he may now order a CT, why?
Does it mean that I have something else? He has taken more biopsies but said he didn't see anything sinister. However, I feel really anxious as I just don't know where I am.
Thoughts anyone?

I was first diagnosed with UC when I was 21 and I am now 70. There was a period when I had no symptoms and no sign of the disease and this lasted for 18 years. However, it came back again in 2004 - with a vengeance - but I was re-started on Asacol and all seems to be ok again. I recently had a perforated bowel but that was due to diverticulitis, which I had no idea I had and it happened so suddenly and I was very ill. However, when they came to perform a colonoscopy a month or so after I recovered, it had healed and I showed no signs of UC. I don't need any further follow up and I consider myself very fortunate. I do get quite a lot of pain from the diverticular disease so I now have to learn how to manage that.
UC is an autoimmune disease so do keep a check on how you feel but not to the point where you suffer anxiety. I have autoimmune arthritis and I can honestly understand the "profound fatigue." It's just no joke. As an old bird, I have learned to pace myself but I still keep active. Fortunately, I no longer have to struggle with working everyday. At 65 I decided I was way past my sell by date as far as my job was concerned, but I also take the view that if the housework doesn't get done today, there's always tomorrow (or the day after!)
Good luck with all the tests. Stay positive and whilst you feel like this, take it one day at a time.
