Has anyone had any success with eliminating certain foods or finding a food that triggers or worsens their symptoms? Any success with an Anti inflammatory diet or Plant based diet?

Hi Beth,
I think it's a matter of finding out what works (or makes things worse) for you. It's a very individual thing.
Some people on these boards swear by a vegan diet, others have gone pretty much the other way and had success with the paleo diet, yet others advise cutting out dairy or going gluten-free. I think we've even had one raw-food advocate. Clearly, if you took all this advice, you wouldn't eat anything at all!
To my mind, there are some basic rules that we can all apply - like keeping junk foods as an occasional treat, cutting back on sugar in all its forms, and having a good intake of fruit and especially vegetables. This covers most of the bases of an anti-inflammatory diet anyway.
Other than that, I think it's a matter of listening to what your body is telling you. Keep a long-term food diary if necessary, alongside a diary of your symptoms.

I love that cure!
I don't get parotid swelling and I wouldn't drink a bottle of red wine in one go, nor would I advise anyone else to, but I am a regular moderate wine-drinker (white and red). Maybe that's why I don't get swollen parotid glands?
OK everyone - calm down. Joke!

Parotid = near the ears. The main salivary glands just under and behind the angle of the jaw - the ones that swell up in mumps. Hence the medical name for mumps - viral parotitis. So parotitis doesn't mean inflammation of the parrot after all.
You're welcome.

I was diagnosed with Sjorgens Syndrome about 20 yrs ago. At that time I changed my whole diet and started on digestive aids. Mostly enzymes. I eat very healthy and stick to Mediterranean diet of whole grains, dalds, fruits and protein. I never eat beef. Just chicken, fish and veggie burgers. I have no symptins of the disease today. It took quiet a few years for my body to turn itself around. I only eat organic and I drink fresh veggie juice. Have a Acme juicer. Great juicer. Not cheap. That's what I did for me. It worked.
I do hope that helps. Take care of yourself.

If u don't have symptoms what are you doing here? I guess you are here to promote that crappy juicer.

Just because you don't have active symptoms doesn't mean you are cured. I am encouraged to hear that symptoms can go into remission, I mean that is what I am aiming for, so thank you for sharing!

For me, I was dx'd with Celiac and other autoimmune so I really had to streamline my diet for anti-inflammatory! It was basically a crash course in nutrition for me because I had some GI issues that required some creative diet treatment which turned out to be easier than popping a pill and much longer lasting. Up front, it was expensive and time-consuming but once I figured it out I am so happy with the results! my skin looks so much better, my hair stopped falling out, my moods are more stable, my pain is more manageable, the swelling in my face is minute compared to what it had been, and my pain is far far less. I am on a vegan/lectin free diet..with occasional cheating with shrimp here and there and fries because
c'mon!!
