so ive been feeling like i have a uti so the drs have tested my urine 3 times in the past few weeks most recent one was clear but they found red blood cells as well as skin cells but no infection i also had swabs done which were all clear of any infections and no thrush too. i have to do a follow up urine test again. if its not a uti what could be going on? got constant burning in my bladder. could it still be a uti but the tests aren't picking it up?

    HI there Amanda-

It is possible it could still be an infection. The tests can be skewed if you drink too much fluid prior.. did you do a clean catch first thing in the morning? (its most concentrated at this point)... if you have to go in to the doctor you can request to drop a sample off you take first thing when you get up- mind you you have to get it there in an hour or less because it has to be kept cold. Other thing is to not touch or skin at all with the cup and avoid riboflavin supplements. ALSO- if you have been on an antibiotic its best to wait 7 days to retest if possible. Otherwise bacteria may not grow.

What else could it be? Maybe IC? but lots of people think IC is just a low level bacteria undetected. (?)

For the time bring you can increase water intake, d mannose (helps with e coli) drink lemon water amd eat watermelon to make your urine less acidic.. Im taking marshmallow root tea as its an antibacterial and keeps inflammation down- good for urinary tract. Just ideas.. I'm still struggling with my infection I think... but thought I would reach out.
