Dont know what to do

I'm not sure if my post is suitable here. I'm 37 years and have been dealing with chronic vaginal issues for years and years. I've been on restricted diets involving no sugar most times but when I eat anything sweet I get flare ups. But it's also not just sweets but processed food, even certain supplements. My problem is usually bacteria like streptococcus but I've learnt long ago antibiotics just makes it worse. Sometimes nothing shows up on the swabs and my doctor says he doesn't see anything but I still experience symptoms. The doctors dont believe me about the food causing symptoms either. lately I'm dealing with discharge that keeps shifting from thin to thick, sometimes yellow, sometimes clear but I have burning and soreness so bad at the opening its uncomfortable. I'm wondering if it's not an infection at times but a skin issue. This is ruining my life. I dont think the doctors know how to help.

    Hi Sara,

I also had a history similar to what you describe when I was younger, but I never noticed a food connection. After being given different antibiotics I was prescribed Flagyl and it solved the problem. The mystery infection (I think it was considered "non-specific") would tend to occur after having sex with a new partner. The problem returned on its own about the time of menopause, but by that time my gyn had long since retired, I had moved and was seeing a new gyn who insisted that Flagyl was not indicated. Instead she had me trying every possible medicine, second opinions, whatever. I suffered horribly for 5 years. I don't know why I listened to her. Finally I appealed to my GP who readily prescribed Flagyl and my problem was instantly resolved. If you haven't yet tried it I would ask for it.

    Good luck.
