I'm already dealing with a mess in the lateral side of my right ankle, but now I have a new issue that has come up.

I have looked up where my pain is and have determined that it is that little ligament, and it hurts a lot when walking.

I walk my dog several times a day, every time she pulls me, and that foot goes down hard, pain radiates out from that part of my foot. Yesterday it happened 3 times during one walk.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced an injury to this ligament before.

I'm just curious as to what caused it and what, if any, the treatment was for it.

I made an inquiry earlier about the possibility of suffering from a medial ligament sprain just from hard landings on pavement, and was told it was very much possible that it could happen.

From what I was reading, medial ankle sprains are extremely rare because the ligaments are stronger than the lateral ligaments, so I must really have done a number to be in this much pain. I also think there's possibly a medial maleous hairline fracture in there as well, but won't be sure unless x-rays are done.

I don't see my surgeon until March 22nd, and with surgery for the lateral side, I may not be able to get imaging studies done before the surgery at the end of April. Maybe he will explore the issues during the lateral repairs to see if anything needs to be done.

Hoping to heal quickly, but I doubt it will be that simple.
