Dosage

I've been on 300mg for about 3 years. Went to see my Doc and asked for it to be lowered to 150 mg. Felt I was ok and wanted to see how I was on the lower dose. I've been on it now for about 9 months. Everything was fine at first but I've found that the last couple of months I've been struggling with anxiety and paranoia . Some anger issues but definitely no depression. Any thoughts on this would be welcome .

Hi Alancue. I've been on Venlafaxine too and when it came to tapering I took it very slowly by only dropping in 37.5mg increments every 2 wks I have just been diagnosed with Bipolar 2 after having been treated for unipolar depression. I had anxiety, paranoia and awful intrusive thoughts and my new psychistrist prescribed quetiapine for the extreme anxiety, paranoia, and disturbing thoughts. I've been taking the quetiapine for less than 2wks and the difference is unbelievable and I feel almost back to my usual self. I will be tapering off ven when my quetiapine has reached its therapeutic dose in 12 days. The other advantage with the quetiapine is that it helps with insomnia (it did for me anyway as I've gone from 2hrs sleep a night up to 7!). You may want to ask your psychiatrist about quetiapine?
