Dosage Administration Problem

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am a male 67 and have been diagnosed as having early stage of osteoporosis. I am prescribed Ibandronic Acid 150 mg tablet once a month.

Till now I have taken two of them but due to extraordinary circumstances I could not take third tab on due date and I cannot till next month due to holy month of fasting.

Is there any advise about this problem from any one. I shall be thankful.

Regards

Hi Aakramqur, As far as I'm aware you certainly won't do yourself any harm by skipping the fasting month  - it's just that you won't gain any benefit either. In fact, unless you have had a fracture, people aren't usually put on these meds. for 'early stage osteoporosis'.  However, having said all this, the very best peerson to talk to is your doctor. I'm sure he'll reassure you. You should also ask him about the benefits of exercise for your bones or maybe ask him to refer you to a physiotherapist who specialises in this area.  Take care,   J

Unfortunately, I have never heard of the tablets. I did find the same med that may be taken as an iV. I sill do not have info on this med

I had been diagnosed about two years ago, at age 69 with sever Osteoporosis of the hips. My doctor prescribed a pill to be take daily with some very stringent parameters without even seeming me!

Well at the pharmacy I noticed the warning that taking the tablets with Barrett’s disease will cause beading in the throat. I then checked the drug online and came up with the same warning I told my doctor whom had referred me for at least one endoscopy per year. I cannot believe that he had to consult with my gastroenterologist to obtain the same information I had!  Anyway I was given an IV of Reclast. The doctor must prescribe for the first IV Norco which is a pain reliever. It has 40 side effects. Anyway about 4 months ago I was given my second IV. This time I did not have any side effects.  Later I was given an x ray scan, and would believe the osteoporosis went away and I just have Osteopenia!

I do take 1000 mgs of calcium citrate three times a day and 4,000 mgs of vitamin D3.
