DOSAGE CHANGE FOR OCD INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS

Posted , 4 users are following.

I was on 20mg for 6 weeks. The GP inreased it to 30mg 4 weeks ago. I got appointment Thursday to review medication. The only real side effect I had is tiredness which I can deal with with because I am signed off work.

THe medication has helped reduce anxiety a bit and made intrusive thoughts a bit less intense. But still very anxious especially in public places.

Should I ask to stay on 30mg for 4 more weeks.I read you should give medication time to work fully. Or if GP suggests increasing it to 40mg should I agree I am 62 and worried by such a large dosage. Or change medication if she suggests it. I sence the GP will agree to whatever I suggest and I just dont know what to do???

Its not a big dose and I believe many with ocd are on the Max doseage. I take 100mg sertraline which I believe is like 40mg CIT. I'm really tired too and doctor is thinking of putting me on 150 now after 3weeks on 100mg 10weeks on 50mg. X

You drink on Citalopram. I was told not to drink? How much do you drink and any side effects other than sleep and dreams

Hey there Mackem, I've been on citalopram for a little under 3 weeks. This weekend I had 2 social occasions, including (dare I say it) a lot of booze.

I've read the leaflet that says not to drink on cit, but it didn't say why. What I noticed was the side effects intensified the morning after. Along with the standard hangover, I was totally spaced out. That led to a few dilemmas this morning where I couldn't make my mind up on a couple of simple tasks. Hasn't lasted too long though. Was tougher in the supermarket on Saturday. I guess really that if I'm going to drink, I'll need to plan easy days afterwards, or at least easy mornings, with no decision making tasks.
