Absolutely do not increase dosage x 7 weeks is way too soon still x settle on 20mg x if you increase now, your ill effects will only be magnified times ten x more is not becessarily better with these meds

Agree - don't increase this early, in fact you might not need to increase at all. 20mg is a dose lots recover on. All perfectly normal to feel better/chilled in the evenings and dreadful in the mornings. The good feeling will increase more over time. Bad mornings were the last thing to go for me.
Keep going.

i've only taken melatonin occasionally and given me awful nightmares could be that causing them. Not good to take it all the time probably?

I know it's horrible took zopiclone because insomnia for years coming off that caused all my problems. Just my experience with melatonin is that gave me awful dreams made me very zonked out next days. Even taking stuff like that you can become reliant on it, I drink chamomile tea, and did find a self hypnosis cd helped for a while. Hope they soon improve and you feel better soon.

It's too early to increase the dose yet. Regarding nightmares, one of the listed side-effects of Citalopram is "vivid dreams". I also had nightmares when I was taking Citalopram and, unfortunately, these persisted until I came off Citalopram. Some side-effects gradually disappear. With me, yawning took about 3-4 months to disappear but the vivid dreams didn't go. For info I was on Citalopram for just under 2 years and took it for depression.

I had nightmares and very vivid dreams....these did ease after a few months. Have been on 20mg since July. It takes perseverance but well worth it once you feel better.

Hi emma,
I've been on and off Citalopram since 2007 so I can't really answer your question. My final bout on Cit lasted nearly two years when I went from 20mg/day to 40mg but after 18 months I decided that the root causes of my depression had diminished so I gradually weaned myself off over a period of five months.
I've never suffered from anxiety or panic attacks, just a feeling of not being able to cope with things, so I'm not sure if this is relevant to you.
I'm not even sure if Cit ever worked for me because I never got rid of the side-effects. I just got to the stage where I felt I could cope without it, and now I can cope without it.
