Dose increase 10 to 20

Ive been on 10mg for exactly 10 weeks and after seeing the GP yesterday shes advised to increase to 20mg as the side effects have lowered loads but feel i need a little push to get me back to somewhat 'normal'. Can anyone tell me if they got side effects? and how long they lasted? Thanks

    Hi Lauren. What side effects did you get with 10? I didn't get any side effects on 10 apart from heightened anxiety at the start, when I increased to 20 I had bad nights with interrupted sleep/pins and needles and muscle twitching. That's when I was changed to Sertraline by my GP. All SSRI meds can cause those symptoms though the muscle twitching hasn't gone yet, but its only 5 days since I stopped the Citalopram i just think it was too much for me. Everyone is different though x

      As you know I am on 30mg and still get the mus le twitching after 19 weeks. Just had blood tests all fine

      i had blood tests too also fine they just said its a common side effect of the medication x

      hi aimee! im starting 20 tomorrow and really hoping they dont set me back too much. the side effects i had when starting were mainly headaches, dizziness and nausea! i just feel like i need a little push! how are you finding sertraline? X

      I hope it doesn't set you back to! So far i'm less anxious on the Sertraline than the start of this week when I was still on citalopram x

    my doctor told me i should be taking 20mg but ive stuck with 10mg and i only see improvements a specialist told me not to keep increasing dosages only to do it if you dont see improvements

    Hi, I started on 10mg.....I had numerous horrible side effects.....looking back I'm surprised I persevered! I started to feel a bit better at about 10 weeks and most side effects had gone or lessened. However my GP wanted me to increase to 20mg but I held out until 16 weeks.....but by then I knew my anxiety still wasn't under control

    I was terrified of increase to 20 as I had read I would get side effects back.

    But not at all......the increase to 20mg was the best thing, it had an immediate positive effect on my anxiety and things just continued to improve.

      hi! im like you terrified to up my dose due to side effects! im starting 20mg tomorrow and really hoping i dont feel like im back at square one!

      not a Dr but 10 weeks is still early was told it takes 3 month

      also yes u up or down the hole things starts again with the horrible side effects. I would stay on what u are on now and wait it out . Do u feel or seen any improvements if so it's telling u it is working
