Dose too low, depression succeeding?

Hello kind hearts,

I was wondering if you could share your perspective with me. The past 5 days I've noticed I've constant fatigue throughout my day, and it's making every waking moment terrible.

I've been on 25mg of Sertraline for 17 days now, and I just got off the phone to my Psychologist. We've determind that the dose might be too low (Considered by many Psychiatrists as a "non-theraputic" dose) and perhaps the depression is pushing through it, creating the fatigue?

He told me that he's never heard of his patients experiencing fatigue on Sertraline, which I was very surprized to hear. I've a job interview in 2 days, and I don't know how I'm going to manage it (It's also in another country). It's been suggested to only up the dose after I return (This Friday) as I might feel even worse if I up dose before I need to go to it.

Has anyone else just felt exhausted while only on 25mg? I feel quite lost.

Thank you!

    Hello Samrock,

Every body is different. I was very sensitive to even a low dose of 25mg. I had to half it actually. I wondered if it would help at all. I was sleepy during the day but then it went away. I have slowly gotten up to 25 mg and don't notice excessive fatigue. I take it around 8am.

If you up the dose I would do so slowly or as advised by your dr. How are you sleeping? My fatigue seemed to be due to the sertraline keeping me awake at night.

Best of luck and hang in there.

      Hey Jenny,

I don't find it that hard to fall asleep really, however for the past 40 days or so, without fail I wake up between 3-5am (My eyes just open, no grogginess- it's so strange!) and then I fall back asleep for about 3-4 hours.

The last few days I've just been a complete zombie, and I also feel very down aswell. I've never experienced this level of fatigue, a complete energy zap all day. It's accompanied with high levels of agitation, low patience and restlessness.

Can you tell me how you know you're sensitive to a med? Is it gauged off your side effects?

Yes, I'd say it was from side effects. I felt double anxiety and dispair. I had been on Lexapro for years and went off of it. I went back on and that's when I had the reaction. So when I decided to try Sertraline, I was very careful and sensitive to any side effects. Perhaps it was psychosymatic and I should have endured it but I felt it was unbearable so I halved the dosage for several days and built it back up slowly.
