Doxycycline and stomach pain

I was prescribed doxycycline last summer to try to help treat some problems I'd been having with my skin. Big mistake! Doctor told me at the time that one of the side effects is stomach pain. Only managed to take it for 3 days as the stomach pain was too much - was then told to stop taking it and the pain would go after 5 days. 9 months on I am still experiencing the pain on and off! Only way I can describe it is a burning pain that moves around my abdomen. All blood tests, ultrasound and CT scan have come back clear. Has anyone experienced anything similar or know what it could be? There doesn't seem to be any particular triggers, I've tried eliminating foods/carbonated drinks etc but nothing has helped. The pain can start and stop randomly.
