Dr's Strike

Posted , 9 users are following.

I finally got my date through for THR on 10th Feb. Got everything sorted at work and home only to find out Dr's are due to strike that day so op may be cancelled and if so there will be a potential wait of up to 28 days before a theatre slot can be arranged. Feel gutted because I actually, for the 1st time since hearing I needed the surgery, felt prepared for going in and now it might all be deferred. Anyone else being affected by the strike?

    Hi

Yes, my op was scheduled for today but got cancelled around the time of the last strike and re-scheduled for the 9th Feb, that has now been cancelled, they've told me it's because of a emergency but how can they say it's an emergency for the 9th Feb. I'm guessing it's the strikes. I'm now scheduled for 10th March.

I hope you don't get cancelled and everything goes smoothly.

    Good luck x

This could be controversal but I worked in charge of ITU and have a long service award (40yrs), my daughter is now a junior doctor. What is proposed is going back to the dark ages, my daughter does 14hr shifts, leaves at 02.00 and back on at 07.00, this is not safe for them or patients. I feel for all patients who have opperations delayed but realise we need to look at the bigger picture and safety comes first.

I hope you all manage to get your opps soon but please remember this is Jeremy Hunt that created the problems and not the junior doctors. Back in my time I was often there 24hrs a day, safe? you decide.

I am scheduled for 12th Feb and because of pain I would be upset if I was cancelled. BUT, I am 100% in support of the junior doctors situation so I would transfer any anger at the government for shaving down our precious system that has supported this country for so long.
