Dress wear

Hi the swelling has subsided, apart from evenings when I have been on my feet, as some of you may know my operation did not go quite as planned. My bunion has returned and my foot is quite a strange shape, due to my fall. My toes won't go into shoes due to the cut tendon and I'm stuck for footwear, especially smarts wear, especially to go with a dress of an evening.. Until I speak with my Consultant again in September, I am desperate to know what you lovely ladies wore on your feet for such and occasion ?

Do do hope you are all getting better, don't let my experience put anyone off, I fell and broke my toe, week two after my operation...

Hi Swampiesue Sue. How are you doing? I'm pleased to hear your swelling's not so bad now. As for shoe dilemma, not sure that I can be of help here.  I've still been wearing trainers or a pair of Chelsea Boots which I had before the op. Still got one painful bunion ugly foot ( op on that one next week ) so kind of tricksy. You have my sympathy for your dilemma.  Are you brave enough to wear open shoes yet? For me no way My next planned shoe purchase is going to be a pair of cute  Victoria Plimsolls, I'm  at the dreaming only stage of  girlie shoes!! Be interesting to know what others are are wearing. Let us know what you buy and enjoy! Bee x

    Hi Swampiesue

Sorry to hear about your fall - that must be so frustrating! I am about 10 weeks post lapidus and still have too much swelling to fit into much. I do have a very comfortable pair of leather sandals that do up with Velcro around the ankle and across the front. This means that I can adjust them as the swelling worsens. Hotter do them; not sure if they are dressy enough but it is at least a choice of colours and widths - and very comfy! I am looking for some ballet pumps for evening wear, but haven't found a wide fit for my size 9 feet yet :-(. If your feet are normall standard width, you could simply try a wide fit - Clarks had a surprisingly good range. - unfortunately the metallic block sandals didn't fit me (even wide didn't fit my swollen foot) but maybe worth a look at. Good luck, I do think having one or two pairs of nice shoes makes you feel better!

I got a lovely pair of comfy sandles from Brantano, I wonder if they are the same, they are Velcro, I really need to find some nice shoes or sandles to in a wide with I think, my biggest problem is that I my second toe keeps curling up, plus I am still getting swollen feet in the evening ...

    Hi Swampiesue

So sorry to hear your news. How many weeks were you when you fell? How on earth did you get a cut tendon?

I can't remember falling or stubbing my toe, but post 16 weeks went to see surgeon as thought everything wasn't quite right. Unfortunately have a fracture in metatarsal of 1st joint, in boot walker and being very careful of how I use crutches as only allowed to weight bear on heal.

What did you get for your break a cast? How many weeks were you on crutches?

I too have bought Hotters sandals, they are yellow and go with most things I know they aren't quiet dressy shoes but are comfortable.

Hi smab97 I fell over putting my skinny jeans on week, at the start of week 3 after having my bandage off, I was not in a plaster cast and just had one of those lovely heel shoes.. The break was not discovered until I went for my 6week check up so nothing was done.. It's very easy to break your toe after the operation, so do not fall on your toes, do not put your toes to the ground, stick to walking on your heel everyone.... My tendon was cut, after a soft tissue tendon real ease, my consultant thinks that both tendons on the toe may have been cut, instead of just the one...

I go back in September, I shall have to have the second to fused straight and the Bungion redone...😐 meanwhile I am getting by, by wearing stretchers pumps, that lace from the toe and some sandles with two winds velcrow straps,.. But I have a funeral to go to in July and a special occasion later that month.. I need something a bit more formal 😞 I cannot fit into any of my normal shoes..😕

Good News all, I found some shoes, 4 pairs in fact lol,Minot perfect but certainly lifted my spirits. The she's are lovely but still a tiny bit tight, nut I think that may be down to the swelling that I still have. Xx
