drinking

I have been taking Sertraline for three weeks. When I first went to the doctor he said I would be able to have a glass of wine with friends. Has anyone drank more than this on Sertraline.

Very few people know I am taking ti and I have two social engagements coming up that will involve drinking!!!1

Hi, i've been on them 17 weeks. Doctor said not to drink but pharmacist said it was ok, not to go mad tho. I've had about 8 halfs of lager and a cheeky cocktail when i've been out and been ok with that. I had a couple of bottles of lager at home first to see if it gave me any undesirable side effects. Hope this helps. Enjoy your social engagements x

    Hi Wendy,

As a young man of 19 I can tell you that I have drank - though I know it's not sensible - to the point of blacking out and been, bar an undesirable hangover, ok the next day.

Wendy, I go out and have a good few with friends at weekends, it definitely affects you if you overdo it. I've seen reports on this site about the effects and I now agree with them. I can be out, be in great form, get home, chat to the family, who say I was fine. Next day I seem to have forgotten many things. A hangover feeling is a distinct possibility, last week inhaled a bottle of wine, had 2 pints and next day I could feel it. I'd say go out and enjoy, don't overdo it and if you do, remember you're OK it's just a hangover.

Well forgetting things is a side effect of drink so dont really thing you can blame meds 100%

Never forgotten things before Karen, I shared a bottle of wine and 2 pints over the day and another couple of drinks later at night. Not what you'd call excessive. Go check some of the other posts about alcohol and sertraline, that's what I did, certainly confirmed the information other label.

Im weaning off Sertraline and not interested in reading all posts. Gone from 100mg a day to 50mg a day and now 50mg every other day. And feel alive again. I think to be fair everyone will react differently as no one is the same. Good luck
