Drinking beer heavily for 4 years

I'm almost 23 male now and I've been drinking beer heavily since I was 19.. almost everyday at least a 12 pack a day on weekdays and even more on weekends with very occasional sober days that may last one or two days at a time.. I've been experiencing pains in my right abdomen for awhile now (which I know where the liver is) and I haven't had a normal bowel movement in almost a year.. went to the doctor a couple of months ago and they said everything looked normal and don't know where my pain is coming from.. I've got a son on the way which let me cut back alot on beer, but still have maybe 2 or 3 every other day with occasional slips.. I've still been experiencing pains since my cut back.. can anyone give me feedback?

Good on cutting back! I also at one point had pains too and started to worry so I did the same as you. Went to the doctor and everything was fine. Dehydration was suspended so I stopped for awhile and it went away. But came back if I started drinking too much for days/ weeks. And then again go away if I stopped for a long enough period of time. I'm not a doctor but that's what I can tell you.
Good luck and congrats on the soon to be new arrival. ?

I am not judgemental...or so I thought....but really I am not.
Just wondering about being pregnant and drinking...really that was the only time I was really tortured because i would not drink.
However, with my oldest son...I did have an episode..I was at a party and I sat in the house while everyone was outside cause I couldn't stand watching everyone drink (I was sulking). And I took a sip of every drink that someone set down when they used the rest room.
Before long I WAS DRUNK...I started crying...was walked upstairs to take a nap...and until my son was born I was so worried I wrecked him!
But, the good news..I told my Dr. what I did..and he told me that the baby was "very protected" in the womb and asked me not to worry about it...and he was born fine.
It was my 2nd son that I never drank with...that required open heart surgery.
So...it all depends on fate I guess.
The pains you are experiencing are probably from being pregnant..the added strain on those muscles around your stomach that are supporting the extra weight. Assuming you are drinking much less than you were prior to being pregnant it probably has nothing to do with your organs.
Welcome to the alcohol forum...Lucky you have noticed that you have a problem...as I did very young...hopefully you can do a better job at quitting than I have. I wish you only good things...

It makes me wonder if perhaps some unwanted bacteria set up shop. Have you tried a probiotic?
I got a pain in the lower right part of my abdomen when I was drinking, below the navel and to the right. It's mostly gone away since I stopped drinking. That's the only thing that comes to mind.

No probiotics.. I have noticed that if I go without for a couple of days the pain goes away, but even if I drink a few the pain comes back the next day.. my wife quit as soon as she found out she's pregnant which helps me alot, but quitting all together is easier said than done, for me at least

So the last part I wrote stands...Luckily you have noticed that you have a problem...
Hopefully, you can get a handle on it before you lose everything....
I never did.

Hi landon and welcome. I am on my 6th week of previously 2 bottles of wine a night - 7 days a week (with a couple of lagers thrown in at the weekend for good measure - disgusting I know) to 1 small wine a night as a nightcap. I don't sleep as a result and am tired and the red eyes are less appealing than the red booze eyes!!!
But I have twinges in the right side since I have dropped down - mystery to me as I would have thought my organs would be heaving a sigh of relief.
Congrats on your soon new member to the family - and there is your incentive to cut right back permanently...................G.

I wonder if it's pancreatitis? I wish the docs had some better guidance for you.
You might want to have a look at this for a "Plan B":

It's what I used and I'm very pleased with the results.
What's your longest run without drinking as of late?
