    Johnny,

A lot of young people go through phases or drinking - not every active drinker at your age is, or will become, alcoholic.

There are some things to be more aware of - those that already have alcoholism in their genes are thought to be more prone to have a drink problem, and those of certain ethic groups.

If YOU feel that your drinking is not what you would like, then that is a big thing and you are correct to research more.  The fact that you began searching the internet tends to suggest that things are not settling easy in your mind.  It doesn't matter if someone drinks more than you - it's all about how alochol makes you feel.

Perhaps try altering your drinking, cutting back, or even stopping altogether, and see how that feels.  It that is a difficult thing to do, then yes you are right to be thinking about this deeper before it gets out of hand.

Do you have to drink a lot more than you used to in order to get buzzed or to feel relaxed? Can you drink more than other people without getting drunk? These are signs of tolerance, which can be an early warning sign of alcoholism. Tolerance means that, over time, you need more and more alcohol to feel the same effects

please see AUD ...alcohol use disorder. And see Alcoholism and Alcohol Misuse - Recognition and Assessment under related information on the side of this page .

You are young   You are aware of a problem.  If you can stop.....STOP.

It is as simple as that.   The problem is progressive.  Many on this website cannot stop... too far gone !

    Johnny...be good !!  To yourself !!!

I realise that you are awakening to a problem.

None of us want our problem.

    We are stuck with it.

     You are not..... yet.

    I wish you WELL !

Is it a problem for you?

That means..does it interfere with work, school, jobs, relationships, driving, the law?

If not..probably not a problem.  Do you have a potential for it to be a problem?

Is it in your family? (alcoholism)

Do you crave more than your friends?

Do you take risks when drinking?

It doesn't sound like a problem right now....seems you go to bed at a reasonable time and only drink before dinner.

If I drank before dinner...there would be no dinnner...but just because you eat doesn't mean its a problem..how much it consumes your time and your life and how it affects you determines if it is a problem.

Sounds normal for ayoung guy Johnny.

Ifi were you I'd just make sure I had a couple ofdays alcohol free everyweek, and use those days to do some sport:a slow jog or a brisk walk if you're not the sporty type. That will get endorphins flowing and you'll get a great little buzz.

    Good luck!
