Drinking green tea prevent illness?

Hi,
So this is a bit of an observational thing that has got me wondering... does drinking a lot of green tea prevent you from catching illnesses? Obviously there's a lot of proposed benefits to drinking green tea, such as apparently preventing some cancers and Alzheimer's, but not much on it preventing minor things like colds and stomach bugs etc.
I drink a LOT of green tea. On average about 4 cups a day. This has been a habit for a few years and in that time I've noted how little colds I've had, to the point where I couldn't even remember the last time I had one. And if I did, it would only last a couple of days and didn't make me feel ill in any way. Even the countless times I've been in direct contact (kissing etc.) with someone with a cold, living in cold and damp conditions (ah student life...) and nothing. One time I had spent a week with my boyfriend (obviously had very close contact) and the day after he came down with severe tonsilitis which lasted a few weeks, but weirdly I was fine. More recently, my current boyfriend came down with a stomach bug but hadn't shown any symptoms for several hours before I saw him, so I decided to risk it. Probably wasn't the greatest idea but somehow, god knows how, I managed to avoid that too.
So anyway, I've jokingly said on several occasions that my lack of colds etc. Is down to all of the green tea I drink. I'm generally rarely ever ill anyway, but im convinced the green tea has contributed to this. Especially when I was rather ill with a viral infection and had to be prescribed antibiotics and an inhaler, this was following not having drank any green tea for a few weeks. Probably just coincidental, but it is interesting.
So I'm just wondering, has anyone else experienced this?

Many of the plant compounds in the tea leaves do make it into the final drink, which contains large amounts of important nutrients .
Tea is rich in polyphenols that have effects like reducing inflammation and helping to fight cancer.
Green tea is about 30 percent polyphenols by weight, including large amounts of a catechin called EGCG. Catechins are natural antioxidants that help prevent cell damage and provide other benefits.
These substances can reduce the formation of free radicals in the body, protecting cells and molecules from damage. These free radicals are known to play a role in aging and all sorts of diseases.
EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate) is one of the most powerful compounds in green tea. It has been studied to treat various diseases and may be one of the main reasons green tea has such powerful medicinal propertiesÂ
Green tea also has small amounts of minerals that are important for health.
Try to choose a higher quality brand of green tea, because some of the lower quality brands can contain excessive amounts of fluoride
