Driving after ankle fracture

Hello I am recovering from an ankle fracture, it is 11 weeks after surgery. I am in my second week of physical therapy and my therapist had me to practice on walking this week. My question is how was everyone's experience of starting to drive again? Will it be scary? How long did it take for you to start back driving? Did your doctor five you the ok to drive or did you just do it yourself?

As much as I was tempted to drive I held off until my surgeon said at the 12 week final visit I could get in the car and drive. Mind you after the accident and having been told how long I was going to be unable to do things for - I went straight out and bought myself a second hand mobility scooter called Madge. She was my godsend for the whole 12 weeks!!!

i drove 8 weeks post op but it was my left foot so didnt impact my driving

Michelle I used my rolling office chair to get around the house It worked great and I could still make a pot of coffee in AM and do some cooking

A friend of mine broke his ankle in January and gave me the helpful hint

i was the same sandra. as soon as i knew how much my life was going to be impacted i also got the office chair and scooted all around the house. Luckily my downstairs is a straight through layout making it much easier. Invested in a bath board for showering and a limbo leg cover too.
