Driving license

I've just joined,so hello to everyone.

i got Labrynthitis, for the second time,a month ago. Contacted doctor, who put me on tablets and said don't drive( I'd already stopped). A friend told me to check the DVLA Website,in case I needed to report it. I did and I did,so I did.

They have now suspended my license for a minimum of three months, of being either clear or in control.

My doctor, wasn't aware it is a reportable illness. Shouldn't the medical profession be aware of this? I will now inform my insurers.

Just bought a new car,bummer...

Hi graham35148,  Where I live in Canada, it is up to physicians to report patients to the Motor Vehicle Dept., if the Doctor believes the patient should absolutely not be driving due to a medical condition.  Many people have told me that I might lose my license due to my vestibular disorder.  This is not so!  It depends on many factors.  I did not lose mine, and was very much relieved!  The DVLA should take direction from your physician.  It is not a simple thing to decide, depends on many factors. Hope you get it back in 3 months.  Speak with your Dr.  When I don't feel well, I don't drive, period.

    Hi Graham

I have been unwell since 02.04.18 first week was awful, I am better in terms of balance but my vision remains blurry and I have a heavy feeling in my head. I haven't driven my car since being unwell and honestly could not drive if I wanted to at this time. Did you manage to get your licence suspension lifted after 3 months? How long did it take for you to recover ? Thanks
