I feel so glad to be at the other side of this and soon you will be too!! For me it was three and a half weeks after surgery when i felt the turning point. Up until then i was totally depressed, but i woke up one morning and thought "oh i slept through without waking up to take pain killers!!" suddenly i didn't need pain relief any more or even the laxatives. Still love a bath for comfort after a bm but seriously, it will suddenly get better. I had my follow up with the consultant today and he says its all a bit swollen, but the feeling like your bottoms going to fall out of you when you stand up is just the sutures healing and they take 4-6 weeks... I am looking forward to going back to work after 4.5 weeks off... Hope you feel better soon, believe me each week makes a big difference from here on in.

I had the DGHAL which is supposed to be a bit less painful as no open wounds...

    Hi Julie

you arent alone! I had 4 internal grade 4 and 1 external plus skin tags removed 15 days ago. I have yet to have a 'normal' day. the pain after bm is still unbearable and can take half a day to ease and then i need to go again!!

in hindsight i was very unprepared and was grateful to have stumbled across this forum last week. after finding out the hard way i was sensitive to the painkillers and the laxatives i ended up having 6-8 bm's a day and am still having at least 4 most days now which really isnt helping. ive barely left the house and have extended my time off work from 2 weeks to 4 as i dont think i can be away from the bathroom for long enough!! reading some of the threads on here i realised what i was experiencing wasnt unusual - the consultants just dont tell you everything and now we know why!!

i had a really good afternoon yesterday but this morning have showered and have had to lie down again until the pain subsides - its exhausting isnt it?

i hope you feel better soon x

Bless you it is very mind blowing that one day your up then next your back to been off your feet. Have you tried fybogel . I'm on that at min one in a morning it helps with bulking your stools instead of been loose fingers crossed for me it helps and lots of water and loads of fruit and veg and fish . Think when you get your stools sorted it will give you time to heal. I have ibs so it's a mind game some days . But like everyone says take one day at a time . I'm still off work and really don't what to go back till I'm nearly 100% as my job is very much on the go all the time . Take care of yourself and if you need to chat please just message me xx
