Driving when approved by dvla

Hi all, I have had confirmation from the dvla that I may resume driving. However, what I wanted to ask is, even though I have been vertigo free, I still have a fullness feeling and my balance isn’t always good, so has anyone else returned to driving having had been vertigo free but still experiencing other symptoms?
Thanks

I wouldn’t drive very far if I were you. How long since you had a bad vertigo attack. How long did they take your licence off you for. I have had Ménière’s for over 20 years and had about 10 years free of spinning so continued to drive. I was at the hospital recently and asked about driving and they said use your common sense which I would anyway. Swansea were ok with me driving too so long as vertigo free.

I am in my second remission. Fortunately I never had my license suspended but stopped driving voluntarily until symptoms were under control. My consultant advised to always have emergency drugs (Buccastem and Stemetil) with me so that if I got warning signs of an attack I could stop it quickly. Of course pull over safely and stop if driving ability impaired. I am cleared by DVLA and my insurers to continue driving. I am glad to say I have never had an attack whilst driving - fingers crossed it stays that way.
It is quite common for some residual balance weakness to remain after Meniere's attacks and of course statistically a proportion of sufferers will develop some degree of BPPV. Your residual ear fullness may be due to infection or possibly because you need a higher dose of betahistine!
