If your talking about boarderline personality disorder yes you should be fine driving. I know someone who has D.I.D and they drive.

Fits, blackouts,  hypos, stroke only reasons I know for not driving, meds, and alcohol. As far as a PIP's claim goes forget it! Been there, no way do they take mental health into account. I applied 3 years ago, turned down flat, sure they will go through the process of coming to the house, 1hr filling in forms, wait 2months, NO WAY, so you say I disagree, oh I'll look at it again, 2months, and NO WAY, appeal 1year down the road go to court, WIN? Why? Because i'v got a gammy hand, I never thought of it, but the judge, doctor and OT said you can't prepare a meal, bath, dress unaided, bingo won, back dated £3000, thank you, now Mr I have decided have taken it away, so back to court, in the mean time back to work at age 67! Can't make ends meat.

My daughter has BPD and yes she can drive and receives PIP with low rate mobility, which means she has a bus pass and can get 50% off tax for her car. I will say it was a very long drawn out process getting the PIP but it was worth it, my daughter had a mental health social worker and a psychiatrist which did help with being able to get PIP, so this is a thought for you, she also gets ESA and is in the support group, don't forget to apply for this aswell, PIP and contribution ESA are not means tested, you will have to fill in lots of forms and go to face to face assessments which is quite anxiety provoking but it's the process unless you can prove it will be too much for you to attend and have your assessments at home, if at all possible try and have some support from a family member or friend with you at your assessments.

Thank you Sally, my only concern is the pip test it all seems to work round people with disabilities of not mental health issues, it’s difficult for me as my wife goes out to work then my Daughter calls , to check on me . my wife comes back from work at dinner time to make sure I’m ok and haven’t done anything stupid,

The pip test is for people with mental health issues aswell, my daughter has been on it a few years now so not sure about the sort of questions they ask on the form, an assessor came to my daughters house to do the f2f assessment.

Must be a different PIP I tried for??? There's one question on the form relating to mental health! Management of meds, if you can even hold a conversation, your done, if you can go outside alone? Your done, and if you can go down town and mix with people? Forget it! I was abused as a child, 60 years veteran of anxiety disorders, suicidal you name it, I scored 1point for mental health, even at the tribunal they didn't want to know.
