Drop attacks

Does anyone have drop attacks?

I think I've been having them. I read online that the VEMP has to be abnormal but as far as I know mine is normal.

I didn't realize this was what they were until the other day, if that's what it is at all. I have spells where it feels like the floor goes out from under me out of nowhere and I lose all balance for a few seconds; or, for example, I'll be standing there and everything spins (vertigo) for a few seconds and I lose balance. I haven't fell to the ground but it feels like I could.

Is this what they feel like? Any general advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had MD for at least 5 years the only attack/episode I everhad was the first where it lasted several hours sitting on the ground as I could not move with total spinning.  Nausea then vomiting occured and my wife could not get me in the car to the ER so we actually called the paramedics.  I could not even crawl to the car. I've learned since this attack that when I start feeling the vertigo I immediately must sit down other wise i certainly will fall as the world is spinning, no way I can walk.  After this first episode (about a month on meclizine) i was "back to normal" no diet change alcohol was fine, etc. 100%. BUT, 2 years later another severe attack and then I was officially dianosed with MD, had a Catscan then an MRI and back on the meclizine daily several times a day again for a month or more.

Now 5 years later the attacks are back again and severe again, but I know a bit better how to deal with them, and now I'm going to try the more aggressive treatment with the gentamicin injection to hopefully get rid of this long term.

I have had tinnitus and ear fullness for the 5 years and 70% hearing loss in the right ear. So I'm not that concerned with further hearing loss in that ear.

The injection should be later this week.....for now I'm on the diuretic and meclizine as needed.

Oh wow! I'm sorry to hear it's come back. I know it can be nasty like that.
