Drowsiness/tightness in my head and I'm so anxious about it

Hi everyone,
I'm 48 years old and still having periods but within the time interval 22 to 40 days.
Since 1 month, I have a drowsiness/dizziness in my head. I feel off balance but actually not losing my balance in real, it is just a feeling. Very weird feelings and hard to explain. Some days while I'm sleeping at nights, I woke up with head tightness/pressure like there is a headband around my head..no blood pressure.
I had my blood test done recently and some low levels with Iron,B12, D vit and Biotin. I have started to take supplements . My doctor also advised me to take antidepressants but I haven't started and not sure if I should take or not. I went to another doctor to check if there is any problem with my ears but he didn't see any abnormal and asked me to have further tests like balance and hearing tests. I tried to explain him about my peri-menopause but he didn't understand :-
I would be very pleased if anyone shares her experiences having similar problems like mine.
Thanks a lot!

Dear Pamela,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Are you taking any supplements ? Or have you visited a doctor? And how long have you been having these symptoms? It has been nearly 2 months for me..

I'm 48 also 49 next week and like Pamela ive had the head pressure for years and 5h off balance dizziness is common as well scary but common become friends with it because not much we can do about these crazy awful symptoms other than just ride them out they should cycle themselves monthly.. Doctors especially male ones are pretty much useless and can't and don't understand unless youve had depleted hormones nobody could possibly understand that they run your entire body along with your thyroid hormones so when some are missing its going to effect everything from mood to headaches to balance to digestion and on and on.. Antidepressants are useless as well for most as again you are not depressed the problem is we are missing hormones that the body needs to function and until they settle if ever we have awful weird symptoms.. Mine haven't settled so I'm still having crazy symptoms so can't advise you if they do settle , but everyone ive talked to like older aunts and woman say you feel better after years yes years of this crap ,, and eventually the symptoms just wind down and you start to have more better days then bad ones until menopause has then changed you forever and then is a thing of the passed.. Maybe just try and relax if all test show everything good nothing major wrong then you know its hormones... Good luck with your journey..

I know me too still waiting been wait I,g for 3 years now, and really linger because now looking back on all this, it started right after my hysterectomy 21 years ago i just didn't know and put 2 and 2 together until what felt like the bottom dropped out from under me 3 years ago when everything turned really really bad then I knew I'm at the age for it and was the only thing that makes sense.. Also i buy those menopause sticks you pee on and it shows 2 lines which means positive for meno so probably explains why my symptoms are so bad..

Dear Figen
I could have posted the exact same... I couldn't have described my head symptoms better myself.
The headpressure and dizziness/drowsiness comes and goes - for days or weeks at a time. I take magnesium and multivitamin every day. I have noticed that it gets worse when my anxiety is out of control.
I hope you feel better soon!

Dear Troldepus and dear other friends,
Thanks for your kind replies.
Although I can understand that these are Peri symptoms, still I am so anxious about these things.
Therefore, I decided to visit a Neurologist this morning to check whether I have something with my neck, brain etc... They did some tests like Doppler for neck and EEG for brain.
What we got from the tests that everything is fine but since I have also tinnitus , the Doctor prescribed me a herbal supplement which contains Ginkgo Biloba.
But I know at least that there is nothing serious with my brain and the nerves .
I hope we will be feeling better in time ... Have a nice festive season !
