Do they have any idea how hard it is to come off this drug? Being told to take every other day and then stop does not work and in my opinion is dangerous and damaging

I have done withdrawal before like that with other tablets but with venlafaxine withdrawal starts after 24 hours and is dizziness I would have thought reducing the dose gradually a week at a time would be better

Hi Molly, some doctors do, some definitely don't. I was on 75mg and was able to quit just by stopping at that dose, but I know others have to open the capsules and remove some of the little balls and then do the same the next day removing a few more. I would not recommend taking alternate days; for a drug with such a short half-life, it will lead to a fluctuation in levels which in turn will lead to a fluctuation in mood.
Hope you feel better soon, Ed
