Drs don't seem to have a clue

I have been suffering with different symptoms now for nearly 7 months, all Drs have done so far is taken blood tests which have shown nothing and they seem confused as to what I am suffering from. After coming across some information about fibromyalgia I was just wondering how other people started with it, I'm desperately trying to get some answers so I can do something to help me. I get very worn out sometimes without even doing much, I get muscle aching which has at times turned into continuous pain in chest, neck and down my arm (which is quite scary) painkillers didn't help 1 bit and neither did my doc just said it's nothing prob just your muscles getting tired. At times my arms have felt that heavy it caused my hands to shake (Dr says this is me getting stressed) and after having this 7 months now I'm noticing a cycle where it builds up til I can bearly stand it and brings me to tears some days then it will calm down til it builds up again. Sorry for writing so much but just wondered if what I have could reflect fibromyalgia

hi sammy - how far is Bath from you? just had a quick look on the internet and found a centre of excellence in Bath - There is a Proff Neil McHugh and an expert team there.

I emptherise with you, when you have chronic pain and everything you do seem as if you are trying to run thru treacle the last thing you want is to fight for treatment but unfortunatly that is how it seems.

I live in dudley in west midlands, as I said before docs don't seem very sympathetic, I was given an appointment to see a neurologist but have to wait til 5th March, it stated on the letter if you feel worse in the meantime go back to your GP so I did, which was the time I ended up cryin I said 6 weeks is a long time to wait when Im feeling this bad, her reply that isn't that bad some people wait months I don't think they would give you a closer appointment if I rang try ringing yourself for a cancellation if not it's not long to wait, my reply I might not seem like a long time but when you feel this bad it feels like ages away an ive got to keep putting up with it, she had no reply to that

      Hello Sammy,

I really feel for you putting up with all this, and you are still so young.

Unfortunately yours is a very typical story for people with Fibro, and your symptoms do sound like it is that. Press your doc for a rheumatologist appt, they are the ones who usually diagnose. You will probably still have to wait a while tho'. My doc looked up on this site, patient.info, he said that this was the one the docs use. He prescribed amitriptylene before my rheumy appt came up, he said it dealt with the symptoms, (which is what you want, regardless of diagnosis). Rheumy agreed with doc, when I saw him. Praps you could suggest this to yur Doc?

Still took me 2 years to get a diagnosis, so don't give up and learn anout the things that will help you. Good luck.

      Take care, Anne

Hi Anne my doc won't give me anything until I get a diagnosis, says she doesn't want to dose me up on pills as she doesn't know what she's treating so her best advice for me is just to keep doing things every day and not do too much in 1 go. So basically just put up with it. I pretty much figured out myself not to do too much in 1 go as I used to do exactly that at the start thinking it was nothing and ignoring it, bringing me to the point I was ready to collapse. Some days I do go overboard but quickly regret it the next day
