Speaking as an alcoholic who has drug his family through it....It's tough. If your in danger leave. Don't try too hard and let it hurt your relationship. Dont force anything, don't hide the booze or try to lock them in the house. Do a quick search on Facebook for "Your choice, your recovery". Best thing I've found so far. They have all been through it either as the drinker or as family. AA will have someone to you in a heartbeat! Just do a quick google and you should find a local number.
If they can be reasoned with see if you can get them to just talk to a Dr or talk to someone from AA. Neither will force them into anything unless they are a danger. If they are alcoholic, there is a medicine called Naltrexone that actually allows them to continue drinking while extinguishing the insanity behind it and eventually stopping it. There are other medications to help the withdrawal that addicts fear, and help stay sober. Again don't force or sneak anything!
I really tried to rush this out, I know it's kindof a ramble. Keep posting and hang in there. Keep yourself safe!
