Dry Cough
Posted , 7 users are following.
Hi Everyone,
The flu-like symptoms went after a day but have left a dry tickly cough which is now driving me up the wall. There's a constant tickling in the back of my throat and a feeling like I'm breathing in dust or some other irritant - but I was out all day and coughing just the same as this evening, when I've been at home. I'm coughing every minute or so with no real result.
I'm wondering if it's just part of the lurgy I seemed to have a couple of days ago, or just another aspect of this disease... or nowt to do with either...
Does anyone get this?
Do me a favour... don't suggest I go to the doctor, I'm capable of thinking that one up for myself and I'm sick of seeing that piece of 'advice' on another forum.

Just a little update on how I am doing. At the minute I have a septic throat, chest infection, heavy cold and an abscess which may need surgery. Currently taking three inhalers and two antibiotics daily. I have been referred for Post Traumatic Stress counselling as a result of finding a friend and work colleague who had hung himself and been there for two days with the heating on. This happened April 2009 but I worked on until November 09 and am still struggling with the affects of that. In July 09 I was called to the hospice and watched a dear friend of thirty years die from M.S. I was with him from Tuesday 4pm until he died Sunday 1am. His last words to me were \"thanks Robert\" Many times I had to go to his house and help his wife to change him after he had soiled himself. As a result of too much time off work I was retired on medical grounds in June of this year with no opportunity to appeal the decision. Following medical retirement I was diagnosed with COPD and I havnt had a cigarette for thirty years. This morning (Wednesday) I went to bed at 1am and had to get up again at 1.30am because of breathing difficulty. Eventually I got a bit of relief at 3.30am and dozed off and on to 4.40am whereupon I retired to bed and had to get up around 8am, again, because of breathing difficulties. Have had a really bad day and tonight (Wednesday) I spoke to a church full of family, friends and relatives of suicide victims many of whom I knew. Dont know when I will get to sleep this morning (Thursday) but I hope that my wife doesn't say what she said yesterday. \" You came to bed early this morning\". So good morning all and I hope you all have a good day. No sympathy please and I hope that this puts things more into perspective. Life is too short.
Regards,
Robert.[/quote:b0138fb00b]
Dear Robert
You must be a very special person to have been strong enough to help so many in their hour of need.
So sorry for your difficulties breathing / sleeping, I'm hoping the antibiotics will start having a positive affect to help you breathe easier very very soon. [i:b0138fb00b] Do go back to doc asap if you find breathing is not improving or has not improved once you have finished your course of antibiotics.[/i:b0138fb00b]
Sending you thoughts and get well wishes.
Take good care and keep warm.

I sent PMs to lots of \"Moderators. Only EMIS1 seems to exist and she did not reply for days. How are we supposed to contact anyone and how does one draw attention to an offensive post quickly? :?:

Not sure if I'm doing it right but I use the webmaster address at patient UK, you may find it in your personal email when you first signed up to the site.
I'm hoping after this recent event that none of us will ever have cause to contact Admin about such matters again.
Wishing all
Good Health, Good Cheer and good on-line relations.
Best Wishes and breathe easy

I'm sorry I thought that was what Stitch and Jacee were asking about?
ie How to. The reason I responded.
Thought it would be a helpful comment.
As I said before hopefully none of us will ever have the need to again.

Hello V
You probably thought you were being helpful. Van's point was that not only did none of us know, but we had never before sought to report any comment, as comments on this site were positive and supportive. Therefore, there was no NEED for any of us to know how to complain.

Hi Jacee
I did reply hoping that the information I shared would be helpful.
Both you and stitch asked the question about current events.
Van's comments didn't relate to recent events or the question I was answering.
I certainly do hope that this site will return to being positive and supportive toward anyone that ventures here. Also I do hope that none of us will ever need to complain again (as has been the case in recent events).
Have a great evening.

Hi Stitch,
Had a we look at this and tried to run through the process. Maybe you have already done this, if so I dont know what else you can do. Log in, select Usergroups, select COPD group, go down list on Usergroup to EMIS Moderator. If you select PM it should open another box where you can write your message and then submit. If that doesn't work then I am sorry I will have been no help to you. It should work the same as when Members PM each other.
Regards,
Robert.
