i am having issues with what to put on dry eyelids and dry area around the eyes where the tearing is - what kind of ointment or cream should you use for these delicate areas? and what about the puffiness under the eyes and redness -

Hi, I had the exact same problem. I now have my eyes under control and back to normal . Every morning I wash my eyelids with Sterlid, an eye wash and then put Bepanthen cream  ( an antiseptic cream ) on my eyelids morning and night. The magic ingredient is hydroxybenzoate . I live in Australia, but there must be similar products where ever you live. I hope that helps.Claire

I use Avenova to treat the Blepharitis and apply it with a Qtip along the lash lines. I do this after I apply lotion to the skin around the eyes.

Like you the eye lid an area around the eyes were puffy and red.

I started washing my face and eyes with foaming face wash for sensitive skin that is oil and fragrance free. O'lay makes one. Then when the skin is still wet I apply a small amount of Vani Cream light lotion which is oil and fragrance free as well. You could use Aveeno for sensitive skin as well. Make sure to keep it away from the lash lines.

This has really helped a lot!

My daughter had the same problem and was prescribed ocular lubricant, like Lacrilube, only putting it on the areas you mention & not in the eye as one would normally do.  I am in the UK, where are you?

This blepharitis site is amazing as it gives so many alternatives to us who have these problems. I suggest going back to older responses and now with your question I and the new responses they may solve more of my problem.  I'm hoping they will also help with dry eye, burning and red, thicker eyelids.

For more than 3months I will be taking Hylo-forte whch contains sodium hyaluronate 0.2 for intensive lubrication and now using Blepharasol and /or Systane Lid Wipes and am starting with new recommendations as I have not seen much improvement with itching.

How much puffy under eyes do you have?

its just the left eye it's always puffy or runny - the cliradex is helping somewhat but harsh on the eyes - what about mineral oil sparingly that whats the pharamcist suggested - the dryness is gone now have i have a puffy eye - this is horrible - i think the bleg might of been triggered from a infra red sauna at the gym as it actually drys your eyes out - i thought i was doing good for my eyes and i think it made them worse

There are so many triggers for Blepharitis and for dry eye.  I found that being in the sun too long could also have been a factor.  It used to be explained that allergies start when just as a dam fills up several factors may fill up our systems and finally when there is too much  as with water (or all those factors!) finally it reaches the top and overflows.

Today for the first time I used cold green tea bags to reduce swelling and redness. I'm now noticing a thinckening of my upper outer top eyelid and the redness has disappeared somewhat.  Dry eyes are difficult to manage and it would be best to tackle dry eye itself.  Do try the caster oil.  How did the pharmacist suggest you administer it. Can the castor oil have an affect if it touches your actual eye? Tea tree oil can be used to soak the eye.  I've read there are Tea Tree Oil eye drops. Read the instructions on the literature or use 1 drop per cup and soak with a cotton pad-warm or cold water.  (Both are soothing and Tea Tree Oil is supposed to be an antiseptic.

Good luck and keep working at all angles until the right one works for you.
