Dry Eyes after cataract surgery

Posted , 4 users are following.

I'm still having dry eye issues weeks after cataract surgery. I've been using Systane but I find I'm having to use it too often. My eyes constantly feel as though I've just gotten done with a crying jag. I've just ordered some Flax Seed supplements. Are any of you using an eye drop that you are very happy with? Recommendations please.

Eye drops can help. I use a night cold eye mask after applying a gel thicker than drops to treat. Stay out of drafts heat air conditioner wind. Always keep eyes clean and never wipe eyes with fingers. Use sterile pad. And keep eyes clean free from contaminants in air.

Everyone has has different ways to manage dry eyes always time and patience and special glass to protect eyes while reading computer. Ask you optometrist Dor more info.

I would make sure the drops you are using after cataract surgery are preservative free.

I was on Lotomex for three months.

I did not start using "Systane Brion Tears" until after 6 months past my cataract surgery.

Someone at the other discussion recommended "Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compresses".  I shall be getting this soon.

In the mean time, I use alternately a hot and a cold gel-eye-masks, which I had been using as I have had dry eyes long before my cataract surgeries.

Whenever I rest my eyes, I use a soft clean scarf to wrap around my eyes and tie it loosely behind my head. I find it soothing.

I also very gently massage the area, placing my two thumbs just below my eyebrow bones next to my upper nose bridge.  I move my thumbs in that position very gently, or just let them stay in that position without moving them for a few minutes.

Then, I place my ring fingers in vertical position in the same spot, just below my eyebrow bones next to the upper nose bridge (palms over face), for a few minutes before sliding them very gently over my eyelids.
