Dry January Challenge

Hi everyone

As some of you will know from my posts on other threads I'm doing the Dry January Challenge organised by Alchohol Concern.  I actaully started on Monday so this is day 3 dry for me.  Anyone fancy joining me?  Their web site is easy to find on Google and you can sign up to receive frequent newsletters and emails of support.  They also have a face book page which is worth a look.

Wishing all a dry 2016

RHGB, how are you getting on with the campral?

I have my doctor's letter for a prescription meeting next Thursday, from Addaction, they've done bloods etc. and contacted my GP.

So, they will either give me a prescription there and then and I will go down their counselling route as well.

If I hear anything else, like excuses, as to why not, I will walk out and start on the stuff I bought. I'd rather that I got it on UK prescription, becauae it cost me nothing, as I have so many other meds, I purchase a yearly prescription card, as it works out cheaper than paying monthly.

If I go my own way, it will cost me £116 per month, once my two months has run out. But if that's what I have to do, that's what I have to do. It will be six weeks when I see him next week, between my GP and Addaction, that is how long it will have taken (maybe) to get a drug that the NHS says should be given immediately after becoming abstinate.

That's a lot of money and couldn't afford that. Is campral a very expensive drug and why doctors won't prescribe it? Good luck you, we are all very interested in the outcome.

No Campral works out about £35 a month for the NHS. But when you buy it from abroad, you're not buying it in massive quantity (not like NHS buying power - massive discount), you buy off of a broker (that's what most of these online pharmacies really are - his profit) who gets it from the maker (his profit) and you're paying for high shipping charges (extra cost) on a small quantity.
