try some antifungal cream, with a bit of mild steroid like canesten HC or daktacort....ask at the chemist.

It sounds like a type of yeast infection, or a similar fungus. You should try using an over the counter anti-fungal cream first, and then, if that doesn't get rid of it, see a doctor. If it is yeast, and you are sexually active, you could be passing it back and forth without even knowing it.

Trying an anti fungal cream such as clotrimazole (Canesten) will be fine, and you may well benefit from Canesten HC (contains the steroid hydrocortisone as well as the anti fungal) but can I just say, as a pharmacist, the ones containing steroids aren't licensed for use (over the counter) on genital regions!  So you'll have to tell a fib if you want to buy it. This is for good reason though....it stops you self-treating certain conditions where the diagnosis is unclear and where it'd be more sensible to consult your doctor, so I'm just saying, you don't want to make it worse especially if you don't know what it is. Remember steroids can worsen fungal infections too!
