I think a lot depends on the surgeon as well as your individual circumstances. Congestion in the airways, if bad, may obviously be a problem if they needed to switch to a GA for some reason. There may also be infection control concerns. My surgeon was very clear about not going ahead if I was ill (I wasn't, luckily), but I was potentially at risk of infection anyway.

Poor you from another cold sufferer at the moment. At my pre op they asked if I had any colds or flu like symptoms so I guess they wouldn't like it present for the op but maybe depends what stage it's at!

I'm nearly 8 weeks post op and will get my other hip done next year at this time which will mean a year between them, I couldn't imagine going through it all again so soon 😨

Good luck and let us know how it goes

    Good morning Tracy,

I just had my TRHR done this past Wednesday.  I think they will do the surgery unless you are running a fever.  The conern is infection.

    Good luck,

Hello Tracy, Good Luck. Poor you with a cold. I would call the Hospital ^ speak to the ward sister as soon as you can. If they say no at least it then gives them a chance to call the next person in line for their op. But if you do go ahead then get well soon. regards Amanda

Oh you poor thing, what a complete nuisance, when you are all ready to have it done. Hope you get over the worst of your cold, and your op still goes ahead. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Tracy, normaly if you do not have a tempreture and your chest is clear they will operate. Buy clear honey and some pure lemon juice, put two teaspoons of honey in a cup of hot water and then some lemon juice, sugar to taste if too bitter.

Sip it once it is a little cooler, dried my headcold up in less than a day. Good luck xx
