Dull pain and burning sensation after being active

Hi, I had an anterior hip replacement almost two years ago. I'm finally feeling good enough to step up my workouts and I've started doing Zumba again. I can't run anymore and Zumba is a close second to my most enjoyable workout. I've worked up to 3-4 times a week for an hour at a time. Recently I've felt a dull ache in my replaced hip and on a few occasions the side of my hip (where I've lost feeling from nerve damage) had a burning sensation so I stopped my workout. Sometimes it happens after I stop, but certainly not every time. Maybe it's just the nerve damage going away, maybe the soreness is simply muscle soreness from harder workouts? I'm going to my surgeon in a few weeks so he can take x-rays and make sure everything is intact. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced these pains once they started being more physically active. I'm only 39 and I don't want to become inactive because of my hip replacement, but I certainly don't want to cause more harm than good either.

take care of your hip. start slow and work up... its normal to feel pain after that type of work out.

these new hips aren't like the bionic woman they have their limitations. learn the limitations, movement is different. take care and time to build endurance and strength. it will be a learning experience once you have come to terms with some limitations with a hip implant.

    Hi Kelly,

I had my hip op in April 2018, I began using my elliptical walker at 8 -10 weeks and restarted Pilates and Step Aerobics (very fast) at 5.5 months, included Zumba a couple of months later.

As well as walking I do an aerobic dvd at home, depending on the exercise or amount, I can feel the hip complaining, when I have an easier day or a off, the hip does settle back down. I do not think you will damage your hip, just resting should stop the aches or slight pain.
