Duloxetine

It has been suggested that I try Duloxetine for nerve pain, but I am somewhat reluctant since i have COPD and currently on Puffers. I have also recently been diagnosed as having  CPD and Fibromyalgia.

Many years ago I was put on something similar for anxiety .it took me many years to come off this medication that I decided that I do not want to take anything like that anymore.

    Hi escot,

I came off Cymbalta around the last week of March just past.  I was on 30 mg after coming down from 60mg a few months previously,   I had bad dizziness for around a week then it tapered off,  my appetite increased ten fold and I've went from 9 to ten stone but I'm beginning to loose weight again now,  by just fighting the hunger,  I think I confuse thirst with hunger and eat when I should be drinking water.  I took the Cymbalta for anxiety and at the time I had a lot going on and was quite stressed.  Everything is more settled now and I feel great without the Cymbalta apart from the extra weight and my clothes being tights,  I think the Cymbalta numbs down emotions,  all emotions good and bad so if the bad is too much then Cymbalta is good for the time being but if you can ride out the bad knowing the good is more than half your day then maybe no Cymbalta.  I can only assume the Cymbalta does the same for numbing pain I your body ?..I'm lucky I have not had to suffer physical pain and can't imagine how tough it would be,  but on the whole Cymbalta was easier to come than what I have read about,  (for myself anyhow)

      Dear Veronica,

Thank you for your comments re the above. I think I am going to stay away from Antidepressants as most of the time I am coping with the pain, stiffness, the worst time for is in the morning,or if I have not paced myself as much as I should have done, I have recenly been diagnosed as having Fribromyalgia, and last year CPD, Plus I have COPD,and I am taking medications for these problems, and I dont want take antidepressants on top.

Hi escot, if nerve pain is interfering with your daily activities to an extent where it is difficult to control to a bearable level then I wouldn't try Cymbalta. My advice is to do your research including looking up reported side effects from the FDA. I took cymbalta and suffered severe adverse effects which led to a 6 day hospital stay and 9 weeks off work. It may suit you, it worked wonderfully for me initially and I was pain free after 3 days.
