Duloxetine for CRPS

My doctor prescribed Duloxetine for my CRPS/nerve problem in my wrist. Has anyone been cured using that med and if so how long before improvement started. I don't like taking the med but if might help I will continue.

Duloxetine wont cure crps. It has better benefits for fibromyalgia than crps. Initially it made my joints less stiff in the morning abd evening. But it was short lived relief. The dose was increased and thats when issues started. Anxiety attacks and forgetfulness. I had to come off it . Try it, as some folks have benefit from it. Becareful if driving as it can affect concentration levels and reflexes.

I tried gabapentin for three months and found no benefit. Is there something out there that will work?

Gabapentin did not work for me . Ive also tried lyrica ( pregablin) its also a neuroleptic like gabapentin. Gps are prescribing it if gabapentin doesnt work. It can cause weight gain and anxiety. Also it slows the development of synapses in the brain . Also be wary if you have strokes in the family. I couldnt even recognise my own handwriting when on it. Also you shouldnt be driving when on it. You may find tgat your gp is reluctabt to put you on it as there is a lot of controversy around using neuroleptics for pain . gps are cutting back on opoid meds . Where is your crps on your body. If its not spread or early stages try acupuncture. I was a sceptic but desperate for relief and it did help. Some nhs physios are trained to do this . If not private can be £30_40 for half hr . Ask if you have a clinic that offers CBT pain treatment therapy.

Look into CBD. I buy online. Its cannabis without the THC so its not illegal . You cabt get high on it. The oil comes in different strengths . Google CBD treatment.

I have non pain CRPS in my surgically repaired risk. My pain specialist said I have local nerve damage in the wrist as well as some CRPS.

So you have CRPS 2. ?. Sorry to hear that. Ive had mine since 2014. Started in right lower leg as a result of a break. Its spread to other parts. And I developed fibromyalgia in summer 2015 as a result.

I don't know what to call it. All I get from the doctors is that it is a syndrome and they don't totally understand it.

?Your predicament sounds a lot worse. Good luck to you.

And to you. Im managing I am now formally on paper 25% disabled having been assessed by DWP. But I have adapted my life . Took a while to accept but Im ok with it now. Do your own research as getting a medical professional who knows the condition is rarer than the condition its self. Look into food and srink as some things irritate the condition. Temp changes . Certain noise volumes. Caffeine and alcohol. Keep notes as crps never affects the same person the same way . Its what makes it complex and difficult for Drs to conclude treatment or reason. Ive read that they are looking into crps as being primarily a faulty antibody that goes rogue in the immune system .

I have only been prescribed amitriptyline and that didn't work. I haven't heard of the med you mentioned.

Amitryptaline didnt work for me either. Duloxetine isnt much better if any. It is also an antidepressant that works as a joint and muscle relaxer. Hence why stiffness is less. Amitrytaline is a gps 1st go to drug. But Its useless for crps. Google CBD treatment. Or ask to try a neuroleptic . Some folks manage on those. I didnt but if your one of those few that might benefit it might be worth a try. Read research on those and decide if its worth youself trying thr.. Be warned they do have noticeable side effects.
