During the day, when is your reflux worst? Right after eating, a little later, etc.?

Hi all, I'm curious when people get the worst symptoms during the day (I know for many of us night is the worst).  I ask in part because I'm trying to figure out the best times to take Gaviscon Advance.  I feel that about 2 hours after a meal, my lump-in-throat issues start up, and then (especially after lunch and dinner) they steadily get worse with back pain and so on manifesting later.  Sometimes eating a snack helps, sometimes not.  I am in part trying to figure out-- is there still food in the stomach 2 hrs after eating?  Or is the reflux caused by NOT having food in there?  Or by gas?  What do others think?

Hi Jen I seem to get it within half hour after eating and at night , in fact I've got it most the time and sometimes just drinking water triggers it off ! You can take Gaviscon after each meal but don't eat or drink anything in between mealtimes

For me nights used to be the worst, but now it's right after i eat or right after i wake up in the morning. After i eat i get a really bad sore throat, but it goes away after some time. In the morning i feel like acid "ate" the back of my mouth, but i've modified the way i sleep so it subsided.

I think you should just observe when your symptoms are worse for YOU, because GERD is different for everyone.

Also, i'm pretty sure an empty stomach can trigger GERD symptoms, not sure why, but it happens to me and to a lot of other people too, as i've read. Eat smaller, but more frequent meals.

Idk about the food being in stomach for 2 hours after eating it, i guess it depends on your digestive system. You should wait a bit more after eating to go to bed. I usually don't eat after 7 pm.

    Good luck! xx

for me it's when I am hungry or about 3/4 hours after a meal. I was told to take the gav adv 10 minutes after each meal and at bedtime.  I try to do this but not always possible to do after each meal  (if out for lunch or dinner) but I do it last thing at night before I brush my teeth and try not to don't drink any water after it.  Since the bedtime dose I don't wake up with chest pressure  and the need to 'burp' during the night.

?But maybe if someone eats small meals throughout the day they might need to take it after each meal ?
