EAR BLOCKED AND SWOSHING SOUND 4 MONTHS

Posted , 4 users are following.

It started with chills and fever and both ears closed up. Then only one . This happened 4 months ago. I also got a very bad cold/flu 2 moths ago. My eaar never opened up and I have a swoshing sound. Went to a ENT who frightened me more than did anything good for me. Said my hearing on the ear is poor and that the nerve is damaaged. He said you can't do anything about it. He wants me to have an mri which I refuse. I do not have mental peace to wait for answers for 2 weeks. I am a highly sensitive artist/author type. He said chances of a tumor is less than a 1%, but I am very worried. Does anyone have this problem and is there any preferably wholistic cure? If blocked eaar comes suddenly with a virus can you not rule out a tumor? Am I never going to heaar again? This is the worse! My family doctor never gave me any medication for 4 moths, is that right? Hope I can get some answers. Thank you so much.

    Hi Henny,

When you clean you clean your ears does it make it worse or is there any fluid or blood coming from it? MRI is probably best as it'll rule out numourus things. It could be a perforated/hole in ear drum or an infection of some sort.

I'm 21 in April and I am deaf in my right ear due to so many perorations, infections and a burst eardrum from a very young toddler. My left ear is going the exact same way. Sadly if you have perforations you can't receive eardrops, you'll only get antibiotics and painkillers. I've got to the point I don't go to the doctors now I just attend an ENT to get it dealt with.

Keep me updated, take care, Ellie x

    Thanks Ellie,

No, I have no blood or liquid. My ear drum was retracted but not anymore. I don't have psychology to go and have a mri.  I got this when I had a virus.

When you get a virus you are more prone to ear problems but should go away on there own. If you can take painkillers and be careful going outside if raining and wind as this can damage the eardrum if your having problems at the moment.

I hope this helps you a little. Take care and keep me updated. Ellie x

Henny Ive got a wooshing sound in my right ear which is worse when I lay down so is keeping me awake! Im waiting for an appointment with ENT at the moment so ill let you know what they say it is. Ive also got to have a CT scan cos I have balance & dizziness problems as well as bad headaches. You need to have some kind of investigation cos although you may have to wait for the appointment then wait for the results its better than forever wondering what is wrong, & not having treatment to put it right! Let me know how you get on. Mel

Henny Following the flu both my ears were blocked. The left has fluid behind the ear drum in the middle ear. Dr said it could take weeks to clear. The right one was filled with gunk. Dr cleaned it out and I can hear some now. I got the same story about nerve damage already there after they did a hearing test. The thing is I had excellent hearing before this virus. So, I'm not a fan of conventional medicine and I think it's hard to find good Doctors. This last weekend I went to a Naturalpath who recommended acupuncture. The next day my left ear started popping and I have some hearing. I also went for a head/scalp/foot massage. There are reflexology points in the feet that affect ears. For me, alternative therapies work. Good luck

    Hi Nancy,

We are definately on the same wave lenght. This thing about the nerve damage already there after they did a hearing test is probably a story they like to give you at the ENT. I also had excellent hearing before this virus and I am exercising really hard with no other problems. The ENT love to scare you out of your witts about a potential tumor possibility and mri. I have decided to say no to that  and go with holistic ways. I have a hard time with conventional medicine as well.  I got a bad flu/virus and both ears closed in a few minutes time. One later on opened and the other stayed closed and is still closed for 4 months now. There must be a way to heal this holisticly. Please let me know if acuputure works. How long have you had this blocked for? I have no fluid in my ear supposedly, but my fam. doc and ENT doc says two completely different things. Fam. doc says I have a retracted ear and no fluid, probably need dranige from ear. I have a pressure diffrence in ear and outside. The ENT says I have NO hearing what so ever(which I have ) the nerve is destroyed and I will never heaar again and I better check if I have a tumor in mri. Wow, that is a big difference! I found out through research that ENT docs only deal with ear problems 5% of their time. They are primary neck and head specialists.  So, Naancy thank you so muuch for your insight in this. let me know how it goes.
