ear infection - seriously painful!

This is the second time now this year I've had an ear infection to the point that I can't sleep through the night due to sharp stabbing pain. I've found to relieve the lock-jaw type of pain hot drinks seem to help tempoarily, so I'm having lots of hot drinks all the time! You can get \"Otex Ear Drops\" over the counter for under £5.00 which attempts to break down any blocked wax deep within the ear, and take \"Ibuprofen\" for the sharp pain to help you through the night. I seem to only get this when I'm feeling exhausted or run down. This is day two at the moment, and from what I'm reading shouldn't last much longer, however if the body is meant to react to the bacteria infection naturally without needing medication, I'd wish it got on with it as I must say it is excrusiatingly painful.

I have the same problem! I was litteraly writhing in agony all of last night. I don't think I've ever prayed so much before! It's getting better now and a ton of the nasty liquid is coming out so that relieves the pressure but it seems like the fluid is replaced right before I have some real relief... I'm on ibuprofen and some antibiotics for now, though, some morphine would be nice... :P

Hi I've now had the same problem for 3 weeks, currntly on ibuprofen for the pain. The Doctor has told me to give it upto four weeks to cure itself but as of yet the seems to be little let up. Fingers crossed something happens this week. Any suggestions willingly taken.
