Ear Muffled

So I am 14 and I have had a cold for the past 5 days. Yesterday I began feeling one of my ears being muffled but I thought it would just stop when I popped my ears. Unfortunately I can't pop them anymore for some reason. Towards the end of the night last night when I swallowed I felt a weird feeling in my ear like a guitar string being plucked when I swallowed but this only happened about 4 times then subsided. I get 8-10 hours sleep each night. I cleared my ears not long ago. I hope this isn't permanent. I have been listening to music through my headset but nothing above 40% volume on my laptop. I did have a loud noise put to my ear for a very short space of time that gave a small ringing sensation that stopped. I noticed this morning that it has weakened my hearing so I can barely hear in my left ear. I closed my right ear and heard almost nothing (what I did hear was probably coming through gaps in my ear that I missed) and when I closed my left I hear fine. There is no ringing in my ears although one feels as if it is full or has something in it. I would love help because my body just never works like it should

Dont worry lewis this is just mucous in your ears from the cold. It drains down from your nose. Get some hot water in a bowl with some olbas oil or whatever you have at home and breathe it in.

This will soon go but can take a little while. If it continues see the dr who will give you some something to help it.

It is just your eustachian tube blocked

Hi Lewis, sorry you are having trouble with your ears.  I have had this prob a long time and it usually just takes its course if you know what I mean.  Good news is that it usually does clear up!  Can be very very  uncomfortable.  Inhaling with olbas oil (steam inhaler) helps plus decongestant tablets can help.  Hope it clears up soon
