Ear pain

So last Monday I went to an NHS  walk-in with chronic ear pain, I put it down to the skydive that I had done 2 days before. Doc suggested that it could be Eustachian tube dysfunction, which there is no treatment for. Gradually got worse, saw another doctor on Thursday as the pain had gotten worse and I could hardly hear. He then prescribed me with antibiotics suggesting it could be an ear infection as there was a build up of fluid in my right ear which was causing the ear drum to burst, he said it also looked like a small hole in my ear drum was scabbing over. 4 days after being on antibiotics and my pain isn’t better and I’m just as deaf as what I was before, should I see another doctor or am I overreacting??

Have you tried pinching your nose, keep your mouth firmly closed and try "blowing" through your ears? Probably is due to the skydive and you have altered the pressure in your inner ear.

If the "blowing" doesnt work, try yawning. If neither work then you should see a doctor again.

Yeah I have tried both of these suggestions with no luck unfortunately. Looks like another trip to the doctors is needed!

Deafness like this can take quite a time to clear and is very frustrating for the sufferer. You can try the pinching and blowing method several times a day using a gentle pumping, ...it may take time, and clear so slowly you dont even realise its happening or it can suddenly clear.   You should keep going back to the doctor every 2 weeks or so, if there is no change at all, especially if you are still experiencing pain    If you have a registered GP do go and see him/her.  Make that a priority if your ear[s] start discharging.

No more skydives until a doctor says you are OK.
