Ear Pressure, Dizziness/Woozy feeling and imbalance. ETD ?

Hello,

My problems started exactly one year ago. I started having this woozy feeling which is somewhat hard to describe. Its like my head is heavy. Its almost constantly there, and i can always feel it in the background, its like a mild wooziness in the frontal part of my head. around the same time i also developed ear blockage that wouldnt seem to go away, ive tried countless medications for that.

Ive always had spring allergies so i thought it had come early that year, and visited my ENT who started me on corticosteroid sprays and a mucolytic, but the problem just persisted and wouldnt go away. ear pressure(mainly in left ear) + dizziness + a sensitiviy to loud sounds + imbalance when walking(feels strange) although i must mention i never fell down or anything. I would wake up in the morning and sounds would feel just annoying in my ear( doors closing/ knives+forks dropping on plates .. etc).

Fast forward to this day, and i have visited over 6 different ENT specialists and 1 Neurology specialist. I had done a CT, MRI, an EEG and some bloodwork. All came back normal. I have tried countless medications, from antibiotics to corticosteroid sprays to Betacerc and finally anti anxiety medication. Ive been on anti anxiety medication for 2 weeks now, still cant tell if my symptoms are getting better ..

To summarize :

1 year of dizziness, ear pressure , sensitivity to sound , and feeling of dysequilibrium. final diagnosis is Anxiety.

Could it be ETD ? i have no negative pressure value in my ear upo examination( normal tympanometry result) and no retracted tympanic membare on otoscopy. Does that rule out ETD ? or could the Eustachian tube be blocked without having signs on examination ?

This past year was not easy, this has had a huge impact on my life and its my first time posting here. I would love to hear everyones opinion, each and every reply is highly appreciated.

Thank you

PS: I thought i must mention, im a medical student in my final year. so specific medical info is highly appreciated too smile.

Hi M992 & Jake 21058.Sad to say that the pressure in my head & ears is getting noticibly worse & also my hearing & balance are badly affected too.All the doctors seem to be able to say is that after four years is that" perhaps its in your mind".I've had the scans that show zero & also mindfulness & hypnotism.None of which that give the remoted sign of any improvement. Sorry to be so negative.

    i have the same symptoms.

After a bout with the flu- I developed slight vertigo.

It would come and go throughout the weeks following. But then, a month later it came back stronger and was followed by ear pressure and facial tension.

The vertigo eventually went away but now I have a tight swollen head pressure. It makes me lightheaded. Almost like my brain is being pressed by fluid. At the same time it feels like im lacking oxygen flow to my head.

Besides this Ive developed a host of other symptoms..burning feet, cold hands and feet and heart palpitations.

My nerves feel off and my head feels very sensitive. Almost like my blood doesnt know where to flow correctly.

    Can someone explain this?

have similar symptoms of some pressure/tension in front head and some mild dizziness/wooziness.. but mine started right after my gastro/stomach issues began.. possibly Gastritis, GERD etc.. had a CT scan already looked normal.. going for a endoscopy next week.. but sounds like mine would be more related to my stomach issues ?

Hi David,The simple answer is "they just don't know" If it's not on the MRI then it must be in your mind.

Hello, ever had your bite pressure tested? if your teeth don't meet they can cause problems with any muscles in the head.

Did you have any dental work done?

    Do our teeth fit together?

I have been dealing with symptoms very similar to yours for more than 4 years. I have made numerous doctor visits to find out that everything was ok. I even ended up taking anti-depressants, but it didn't treat the cause of my ailments. Eventually, I took things into my own hands and became my own doctor, without relying on clinics or hospitals. I have narrowed this condition down to chronic sinus disease (not exactly sure what kind). The symptoms I had was daily present (on and off) back of head pressure around ears (almost headache but not quite), trouble concentrating, memorizing (short term memory), tiredness, sudden needs for sleep, fatigue, irritation to bright light, irritation to louder sounds. What cured me (not completely, still in the process) is a vegetable that anyone can find in their house. ONION!. Here is what you do with it. Cut the onion (the stronger the scent, the better) in rings of 5 millimeter thickness. Usually 3 to 5 rings. Place these rings on a long scarf (long enough that could go around your forehead and be wrapped). The onion rings should be placed on your forehead in the area above eyes. Wrap the scarf with onion before you go to sleep, and repeat this for 3 nights. Repeat more if needed (even during daytime). This has healed my sinuses, and the symptoms I previously had, have been decreased greatly. Also avoid cold and drink and eat warm food. I hope this will help you or anybody else reading it. Good luck.
