hi everyone ,
Im 28 and Iv been suffering with an on going problem with my right ear with about 5 months.
my symptoms are :
hearing loss
pressure in ear esp when i bend over/stand up or go the toilet
a heartbeat sound that comes and goes throughout the day , can be worse at times
feels like theres wind in my ear too
Iv been to my doctor a couple of times , was prescribed antibiotics to treat a middle ear infection , didnt work.
my doctor has me transferred to see an ENT and have been waiting a couple of months and have heard nothing. I believe with the Covid 19 I will be waiting sometime. I do not want to hasstle my doctor again with everything going on either.
Has any one suffered something similar that may be able to shed some light to whats the cause or even any remedies ?
Much appreciated

Hi Marie, the heartbeat symptom is most likely pulsatile tinnitus. I get that too sometimes. It is one of the only treatable forms of tinnitus, often called "whooshing". I believe it would require a fairly low risk surgery. It is not life threatening, but very, very annoying. Unable to live in the moment type annoying.
It took me a many months to see an ENT as well, months before they even booked me.
Most importantly, do not feel that you are hassling the doctors. They chose this profession to help people like us, so don't ever feel like you are burdening the system. Depending on where you live, (Dont say) most elective surgeries have been postponed in anticipation for COVID cases, but also so people with common ailments can still be seen and treated. While true you many have to wait til the pandemic subsides to get the operation, ENT's are far more removed from treating coronavirus and should not be overwhelmed by stuff like this. At the very least, follow up with your doctor that gave you the referral and see what's going on with the ENT.
Hope this helps, stay strong and resilient!

Thank you for your reply. Yes it's very bothersome of lately and I find when I'm doing particular things like moving it's worse , alot of pressure/clogged sensation and heartbeat noise. I'm hoping I can get it resolved as my hearing has been greatly affected. when I close off my 'good ear' my affected ear has very poor hearing that I cam barely make out what I'm trying to listen to.
I contacted my doctor yesterday, They gave me another antibiotic to take. I was also informed nearly all appointments that are not urgent have been cancelled due to the pandemic.

Hi Marie.
I have experienced some of your symptoms, ear pressure, constant ringing sound in my head ( high pitched ) and occasional fever in my head. Eventually got to see the ENT specialist after being referred by my doctor. I have had a few rounds of antiboitics and Prednizones and had a ct scan as well. Apparantly I have sinus disease and are currently only doing nasal rinses 3 times a day and nasal spray twice daily. He said I must do this over next three months and see what happens. I have had about a 20% improvement in my symptoms, but still very difficult to deal with on a daily basis. The lockdown does help. I do think a ct scan is a must to eliminate anxiety. If there is anybody that is experiencing the same, please feel free to comment or give advice.
Thanks
