I'm in the U.K. & have very similar problems as you do.The doctors & specialists appear to know very little about the pressure inside our heads & ears.Three years ago I was diagnosed with ETD which after various inspections followed by two MRI they decided it wasn't the case at all. All they could tell me was what it wasn't but upon asking what it was--they shrugged & had no answer,It seems we just have to live with it.Sorry to be downbeat, but sadly that is the reality.

hi! I've had chronic ETD since 2015, and this past summer my ENT finally put Pressure Equalizer tubes in my ears. (the same tubes young children get when they have constant ear infections) I have found MUCH relief after getting them in my ears. the healing process was a week of pure hell, and sometimes my ears still bother me, but nothing could compare to how they once were . I live such a happier life after getting them in. I hope this helps

A specialist mis-diagnosed me three years ago with ETD. I've had two MRI since that time but no diagnosis of what I've got.Lots of opinions of what I have not got.

Had balloon dilation five days ago ! I am still swollen so cannot tell you what the final outcome will be. I am seeing my ENT tomorrow for post-op appt.

All I know is that he removed a lot of fluid from my middle ear which I suffered from due to ETD ( tube didn't allow fluid from colds, or allergies to drain. It was miserable.

I still hear the hissing tinnitis. My eardrum is now popping without having to hold my nose or do the Valsalva maneuver !

The worst part of the surgery was the sore throat and ear from the camera going down nose/throat and ET.

There is lots good so far. Glad it is over and I did it !!

    I'll keep you all posted.

Dear Judi,I wish you well with your treatment & hope that it works for you.None of the doctors I've spoken to seem to favour the dilation technique here in the U.K. That said they don't come up with an alternative either. It appears that they just don't know.

i have suffered with etd for about 5years now nothing the doctors can do. i have tried allsorts to clear it when i get it . it makes me shake and unwell when i get a bad day, untill decided it must have something to do with diet so i cut out sugar completely which was very hard but i thought i would give it a try. after a few days i had terrible vertigo where i could not even stand up. scouring the interenet for a solution i came across a video of an excercise for vertigo which worked but was very unpleasant for a few days. also read it could have been made worse by sugar withdrawal. hence i kept to it and have found some relief, the tubes dont feel as sticky inside my ear. i still get days where it is not right but it is bearable, i therefor believe sugar can be a trigger but a hard thing to give up. definately worth a try, lots of foods have hidden sugars so its trial and error but when desperate its worth trying anything . good luck

HI, I have posted several threads please read them . The last ENT doctor I visited offered the tubeoplasty , but by the time they got back to me I decided to wait and keep that option open. Ear problems are difficult to bear, at times a year ago I went for midnight walks at Wal Mart I ate Halls triple action , placed cotton in the ear canal. I used heat to help drain fluid, but nothing worked until I found DR. Mandell on YouTube and followed his treatment for tinnitus. A year later my daily treatment includes : sinus wash; Navage system ; and use of Eustacia popper. I have not found a cure as yet , although I have been able to control ETD as mentioned above. Again read my previous threads which have more information. The Navage seems to have cleaned the etube area and keeps mucus free, using nasal rinse as needed. I use the Eustacia usually after the Navage while there is fluid still in the sinus area to pop the tube as an exercise , I am hoping over time this exercise will aid in keeping the etube open. Finally, I would recommend DR Mandell on YouTube. Ear problems can be treated , my journey to recovery was to Google it and use this forum CHEERS!
