I got my left ear syringed by my GP and I have had vertigo for the last 2 weeks now . Has this ever happened to anyone before ? .

And if so did the vertigo stop  after time  ?

    Hi John!

Can you tell me if you're still having issue? I had the same thing done to my right ear in September and I feel horrible. Nothing helps. I try to ignore it but that doesn't work either.

Tell me about it.  I had my ears syringed for the first time in my life at Drs suggestion (Personally I din't think I needed To) and not long after I came down with something or,other that led,to vertigo symptoms.  When I mentioned it to my go at the time, I was poo pooed and told my eardrum was entact so nothing could have gotten in.  But it hurt like hell when the nurse did it I my right ear and that's my 'bad' side no, so who knows!!

You should never need to have your ears syringed every theee. Inths, that's ridiculous!  ears are self cleaning imhave learned.  Only If younhave impacted  wax problems and then i am ,pretty sure there is another way to,sort that out ,Do tors sometimes  cause more problems for us with their ignorance. ,I dont say that lightly by the way as i have discovered in the last 5 years of this that GP's have absolutely no idea about vestibular problems at all!!

Although my story is anecdotal, I am convinced that an ear irrigation can result in a bout of labyrinthitis or vertigo. It has happened to me twice now....25 years ago and just recently. The first time, I experienced extreme dizziness and was unable to walk. Even lying down brought no relief! Today, it was not so severe. I could sit up, but I was unable to stand and move about! It really sucks!

I agree. I had my ears stringed the first time in my life over 5'years ago.And  not long  after developed the dizziness that has never left me since then.  when i raised this one time with my gp and others I was told 'no no'   Cant happen! But  iMdon't believe it!  I,told, the nurse who was doing it that it was hurting a lot as she was doing  iit (Especially, the right ear which is  where I have problems now) and she just brushed my concerns  aside? This whole, thing has ruined my life amdm cant bear to think it was this that started it all off.

I guess I'm fortunate that my bouts with the dizziness, albeit severe and debilitating, only lasted about about 24 hours. After the first time, I visited my physician, who indicated that it might pass and I'd never experience any more symptoms or it would be something that I would live with for the rest of my life. I remember telling him that if I had to go through this for just one more day, I would pick up a gun, put it to my temple and pull the trigger!

I had my ears syringed at my GP surgery 11 years ago and have suffered severe vertigo ever since. During the syringing process I suffered pain and was told by the nurse carrying out the procedure that it was nothing to worry about. As a result of the damage I have needed 2 major ear operations that really did nothing to help me. I have had several falls and it has impacted on my life greatly. When discussing the situation with medical professionals they refuse to talk about the possibility that my ears were damaged by the syringing and they just seem to "close ranks". I never once suffered from vertigo before the syringing took place.

Yes Cathy can relate.  I orginally went to my GP as i had a small problem in my throat, like a lump, when i swallowed.  the gp i saw wanted me to be checked for thyroid etc. BUt meanwhile, she looked in my ears and said i had   some wax and she's make an appointment for me to get them syringed, but for 10'days toput  olive oil in them to soften it up which i did.I Have  never needed my ears syringing in all my life, bit I said ok.. When The nurse started on my right ear it seemed okay to begin with but then it was b....y painful and just like you she just ignored me as if it was normal to hurt. Left one didnt hurt as much.

thena few weeks later i woke up,one morning feeling like hell. felt like a virus, but my head was so pressured and i could barely walk from bed to bathroom.  From that day in i have not had one normal day (5 1/2 years) and when,,like, you i have mentioned this to  various doctors, including one of the main GP's at the practice i have been poo poo'd!  i,often think if that nurse caused this i will be furious as it has ruined my life and she is still happily syringing people"s ears!!

Have you tried collodial silver. I have menier's disease (aka: chronic vertigo) and this seems to help a considerable amount. You can purchase at gnc, I get the 30 ppm, and invest orally. I literally just swish a tablespoon or so around my mouth, concentrating on sublingual, for 30 sec to 1 min, then swallow. Takes up to 24 hrs. but I experience some to complete relief every time.

    Good luck!

      Hiya

That sounds really interesting.. have you ever put it in your ear or do you just ingest it?

I take collidial silver sometimes.. but I do worry that it's hard to buy a 'true' collidial silver.. I have severe balance issues been seeing a Neurologist for years

    This happened to me also.

During ear irrigation using a pulsating water device, i was acutely struck with dizziness and nausea which now has lasted 5 weeks. The specialist finds symptoms of BPPV in the anterior canal, but offers no explanation of how i got that immediately when irrigating the ear.

Any updates from you people? How did your condition progress?
