Ear trouble and lack of balance

Hi, I suffer tinnitus in left ear and also dizzy spells. Was sent to ENT in London, England and the doctor was  no help whatsoever, blaming my nasal and ear problems on an allergy test with allergies I already knew about. Lately, I have had itchiness inside my ears, and the dizzyness has come back, switching from ear to ear. I'm 73 with various other illnesses, including Osteoporosis, so dread having a fall. Is it worth going back to my GP as, if he referred me back to ENT, I would probably see the same useless doctor. I gave myself ear drops and have no wax in my ears. Anyone else had similar problems and was ENT any help. I know there is no cure for tinnitus, but as I live in an extremely overpopulated area, seeing my GP is quite stressful. He is a good doctor, so everyone wants to see him and I have to use a mobility scooter to add to the mix in a very crowded surgery. Anyone got any suggestions. It would be very helpful.

Do see your GP again.  Ask someone to help you get there.  Ask once again for a referral to ENT....you might see a different person.  I am waiting for a referral for vertigo....it happens getting in and out of bed, and sudden movements of my head

Exactly the same here, but he wasn't interested. It is horrible, isn't it. each time you turn your head or bend over, you get the vertigo. I sympathise with you. I go to hospitals, either by taxi (specially for disabled people at reduced rates in London) or my mobility scooter and my son comes with me (he's my carer) but waiting time is 3 to 4 months. Ridiculous, isn't it, but I live in a highly populated area of East End of London. One of my friends is the same, but they told her there was nothing they could do. Not optomistic, is it?  I might have to go to the GP next week about somethng else, so will have a word with him. Luckily he is a good doctor. He may hav some sugestions. Thank you for replying to my post. Best wishes for your appointment, hope you get good results. Keep in touch on here, won't you? Regards, Val.

Tell them it's BPPV (positional vertigo).  Ask if he knows how to do the Epley manoeuvre.  If not ask to be referred to ENT where they can do it for you
