Eardrum trauma and Hydrogen Peroxide

Posted , 4 users are following.

Recently i caused damage to my ear drum by poking an cotton bud too far down my ear. I had real bad pain for about 4 days but the pain has cleared up now. However a large amount of wax is still in my ear and is causing my right ears hearing to be a little off. This is really annoying considering I make music and need both ears in good condition. I was wondering whether it would be safe to use hydrogen peroxide to clear up the wax as apparently with ear damage it can cause pain but the pain from before has faded

I had something similar happen when a nurse tried to clean out earwax using a spray bottle filled with cool hydrogen peroxide and cool water. It impacted my earwax and I couldn't hear. They told me to buy Earwax softening drops. It comes with a rubber syringe bulb. First, put the bottle in a hot cup of water, but not let it sit in it for too long. Fill the dropper, making sure it's not too hot, then keep your head turned before placing a piece of cotton ball in to prevent leakage. You should do it for several days before making a warm solution of hydrogen peroxide with a little water and squirt it in your ears while bathing. Don't get it too hot, since you don't want to burn your eardrum. Unfortunately, my wax wouldn't budge since it was too impacted. I had to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor who had an ear wax vacuum machine to suction it out.

Hopefully you can remove it after using earwax softening drops.

hi, as someone who has had ear drum trauma and suffered with bad ears for nearly 20 years, I would seek advice from your gp. they maybe able to syringe (unlikely due to trauma) or suction the wax from the ear canal. i would never put anything in my ears without seeking advice as damage to the eardrum may become irepairable.
