Early periods

Hi all,
I am 47 in perimenopause. Everything I have been reading about irregular periods in perimenopause, is that they are late. I have two now that came two weeks early. For the last five cycles, they went like this: 28 days, 15 days, 26 days, 19 days and now 24 days. Does this mean one of my ovaries has stop working? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

I'm also 47 been going through perimenopause for about 18 months, my cycle is over the place: last 10 months: 90 days, 50 days, 69 days, 35 days, 60 days current cycle all over the place i've given up predicting when it is going too come or not, I think we're all different just depends on our hormones, not too sure about the ovaries maybe have a chat with your GP.

Hi Laura,
At first my cycles were closer together. Sometimes spotting in the middle, spotting continuously, scantier periods with brown stringy stuff, soaking periods that seem to last forever. Finally started getting further apart and now missing months at a time. It's all normal. Important thing is recognizing that your cycles ARE changing and it will coincide with other symptoms you may experience.

I am going to be 49 soon and my irregular periods started when i was in my late 30's. Started with heavy periods that were about 3 weeks apart. No matter what i used i would end up leaking and passed blood clots the size of chicken breasts. Really disgusting! Then i had an endometrial ablasion which stopped my periods altogether for a couple years. Now i am getting regular periods every 25-28 days which last 1-2 days only but get really bad cramps for a weekand a migraine for 1-2 weeks. So i think its different for everyone but no matter what it feels like HELL!

My periods started getting shorter a couple of years ago, the shortest being 17 days. I also got spotting between periods. Sometimes, I would spot for days on end, and then get my period around day 25 or something. Now, my periods seem to be lengthening, with the longest one on day 35. I have heard that periods can shorten at the start and then lengthen, and then women can miss periods or stop altogether, but I also think that all women are individual. Unfortunately, there isn't one set pattern that women can follow.
Just know that what you are experiencing is normal:)
